Memory Treatment Program - FAQ's
-
Do you accept health insurance?
- Because of the extensive preparation, testing, coordination and time with you to develop a personalized plan, we do not bill insurance plans. Funds from Health Savings Accounts and other medical spending plans may be used for all fees. We offer receipts for all services should you need it for tax purposes or if you have the ability to submit for out-of-network reimbursement.
-
What exactly does the the Memory Assessment Program cover?
-
The fee includes:
- A detailed, dementia focused, health questionnaire.
- Visual Contrast Study to look for evidence of biotoxins.
- Montreal Cognitive Assessment.
- Body fat analysis.
- Skin Antioxidant measurement.
- Physical Exam
- Blood drawn and sent to both Cleveland Heart Labs and either Quest or Lab Corp, whichever your insurance prefers.
- Scheduling, and if needed, call for preapproval of your volumetric MRI.
- We run your volumetric MRI results through the Shoemaker analysis to assess for mold toxicity.
- Discounts on recommended supplements.
- Extended visit with Dr. Whitney to review all your results, explain them to you (and any chosen advocate you wish to include), along with a personalized plan to put you on the path of brain growth.
- Detailed report of all our findings and recommendations.
Additional fees:
- Supplements- Most people can expect to spend $110-$170 on a core list of beneficial brain supplements, depending on your personal need, based on your results. We don’t recommend every supplement described in Dr. Bredesen’s book, except in extreme cases as there are about 27 beneficial supplements listed.
- Additional testing- we recommend everyone is tested for Leaky Gut, Leaky Blood Brain Barrier, Saliva for high risk bacteria, sleep apnea, and possibly CIMT ultrasound for arterial health. Total cost estimate is $900.
-
If I have already had some of these tests done, do they need to be repeated?
- Special testing like leaky gut, leaky brain, saliva testing, and sleep apnea testing may not need to be repeated if they were completed recently. Some of the routine lab tests may not need to be repeated if they completed recently.
-
How much can I expect to pay for the lab testing that is billed through my insurance?
- This is difficult to answer because it is dependent on your insurance. This may depend on you deductible and if you have an HMO or PPO. We recommend if you are concerned, to contact your insurance provider to get an estimate.
-
I want this testing to be completely private and do not want the blood work for volumetric MRI to be billed through my insurance. Do you have a cash price?
- Yes, cash price for the volumetric MRI is available. Cash price for the routine laboratory testing can also be provided assuming it is drawn in our office.
-
Do I need to pay everything upfront?
- We collect a $500 deposit to reserve your position (limited spots). We will then schedule your appointments and begin the preapproval process if needed for your MRI. We collect half of the remaining balance 1 week prior to your first appointment, and the remainder prior to your six month appointment.
-
I really think it is important that I be tested, but I have a hard time coming up the full payment upfront. Is there any way you can help me?
- Yes. We have an option called Care Credit where you can spread out your payments. Contact us to learn more.
-
If I participate in this program, can I still see my current primary care doctor?
- Absolutely! Although our core practice is primary care, “The Memory Treatment Center” is a specialty program. We would be happy to take you on as a full-time patient if you would like, but if you choose to retain your current primary care doctor, we will send them all the information from your medical visits.
-
What are “Coaching Sessions?”
- As you can imagine, our program involves significant education and many tasks. We utilize the services of a certified health coach who is also certified in the Bredesen ReCODE program to help you with education, answering questions, friendly reminders, and problem solving with challenges along the way. Our health coach will always work behind the scenes with your physician and refer questions to your physician when appropriate.
-
What if I I’m out of town?
- We are happy to support out of town guests and try to make this as efficient for you as possible. We typically arrange for sleep apnea testing to be done in your hotel room the night before your appointment the next morning. Our team will help coordinate the MRI after your appointment. We will provide a list of local hotels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, and activities if you would like to enjoy the area during your visit. We are located at historical Washington Crossing , known for Revolutionary War history. We are approximately 45 minutes from Philadelphia and 90 minutes from New York City. Train stops include Yardley (SEPT), and Trenton or Hamilton (Amtrak and NJT).
